Finance Manager

Altius Search Group is recruiting for a Finance Manager for one our clients in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated aptitude to learn quickly, a knack for relationship building, an eye for process improvement, and an ability to provide actionable business insights. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the financial controls, reporting, and profitability of the company. This includes, but is not limited to, Monthly reporting, Variance analysis, Forecasting, Product pricing, Review of product margins and Monitor overall profitability

    Job Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Prepare various reports for the monthly financial package, including division, customer, and item level reporting

    • Perform monthly budget vs actual variance analysis, researching and explaining all large variances

    • Produce weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to analyze data, providing insightful information to finance, operations

    •  Produce weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports to analyze data, providing insightful information to multiple departments

    • Collaborate with sales team to produce and maintain a rolling sales forecast

    • Develop new reports to ensure business leaders have the information needed to make good business decisions

    • Perform pricing calculations and review product margins on an ongoing basis to ensure profitability

    • Review reports and data for accuracy and bring attention to issues with potential solutions

    • Assist with annual budget process, presentation preparation and other ad hoc projects

    • Ensure data integrity of our key system data points

    • Cultivate strong relationships with all functions of the business

    • Manage and mentor Financial Analyst and provide guidance on their duties

    • Identify, research, and implement ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness

    • Strict adherence to all finance policies, procedures, and best practices

    • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

    Requirements

    Required Experience/Skills:

    • Skill in transforming financial data into narratives for the purpose of communicating concepts and results to internal management and staff

    • Possess strong organizational, problem‐solving, and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to multi‐task and maintain attention to detail

    • Proven ability to collaborate on cross‐functional projects and teams

    • Advanced Excel and Tableau user with strong data analysis skills

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Work well as a team in a fast paced environment with adherence to tight deadlines

    • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles following GAAP

    • Experience working with ERP systems (Macola preferred), as well as reporting software (Crystal, Prophix, Tableau)

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field required

    • 5‐8 years of progressive financial analysis experience 

    • 2+ years of experience managing a team
